The weird list of people barred from Britain... and those we have let in
Call me a cynic, but it doesn't seem entirely even-handed
So. This anti-immigration French philosopher who has been denied entry to Britain. Was it a sound decision on the part of the Home Office? Aside from the weird irony that Renaud Camus laments our open-door policy but finds it closed to him, I know little about the chap. A cursory glance reveals certain far-Right tells. Perhaps that was enough to make him “not conducive to the public good”.
I’m not inclined to defend him. But his exclusion must prompt us to look at some of the other controversial figures who have been welcomed into this country to carry out speaking tours. Surprise, surprise! A double standard seems to be at work here.
